ABSTRACT

As people become increasingly aware that the organization of communication is the organization of control itself, it would seem that the means by which information is organized, expressed and brought to bear on problems of environmental design should be more important as an issue in research and education than it appears to be. In many minds, design method has been discredited by the dogmatic arbitrariness of earlier descriptive formulations, while inherent restrictions, presentation and complexity have rendered statistical decision theory unusable for most designers.
