ABSTRACT

This paper presents a graphical tool to aid groups in decision making in the context of problem-solving and program development. It is basically a U-shaped graph which serves as a reference-base on which alternative proposals, competing for the priority of being selected and implemented, are plotted; then discussed; then manipulated by prescribed resolution-strategies; and finally interpreted to establish preference of one over the other. The U graph, as the group proceeds through its various phases, leads the participants into exploring the implications of each alternative decision and in conjunction helps develop the reasoning behind the ultimate choice. The objective of this paper is to acquaint the reader with the process and its outcomes, and is too short to accommodate all of its subtleties.
