ABSTRACT

The notion of the “blurring boundaries” has become a flashy label to characterize

the way journalism is manifestly changing in the age of the internet. Meanwhile, such

labelling crops up in journalists’ description of themselves: for example, the editor-in-

chief of the British Guardian, Alan Rusbridger, indicates how exploring “digital space”

has led to a completely new notion of what journalism is: “It brings with it an entirely

new idea of what journalism is-indeed, for some, it calls into question whether there

is any such distinct thing as ‘journalism’” (Rusbridger 2011).
