ABSTRACT

This chapter aims to help clients to see those pieces for themselves, to disclose something when it is time, to make connections, to find meaning. Ethical dilemmas arise in clinical practice with some frequency, but they are usually worked through with consultation, supervision, and a good working understanding of the ethical guidelines provided by clinicians credentialing bodies—which are those of the Art Therapy Credentials Board and the National Board of Certified Counselors. The program required teenagers to attend some groups each week, two of which were peer groups, while the third was a multi-family group. If they experienced a chemical or behavioral relapse during the week, the adolescents would attend a fourth group. Teenagers worked through phases of treatment as they progressed through educational and individualized treatment plans.
