ABSTRACT

This chapter considers the space from which participants connect to the meeting: different options and their organizational meanings. The chapter addresses meetings that are intended for learning and development, such as management development, and team development, followed by recommendations for this type of content and process. When the meeting deals with complex issues that require interaction and involvement, the video platform is a very good solution, since in these situations we seek to get as much information about our interlocutors. The goal of these meetings usually includes: problem solving, decision making, conflict resolution, product/strategy development, and presentation of a new idea. Organizational virtual meetings challenge boundaries more than collocated ones. Setting is a critical factor for any successful group process, but is twice as important, since there are a lot of disruptions in the virtual context.
