ABSTRACT

March 2014 brought new hope for SA women struggling to get recognised in the workplace when the Women Empowerment and Gender Equality Bill was adopted in the National Assembly (Anonymous, 2015a). The Department for Women, Children and People with Disabilities tabled the document last year in an effort to eradicate gender bias in the SA job market (Anonymous, 2015a). The SA government demonstrated its commitment towards gender transformation by enforcing change in the workplace in support of women and speeding up the process of transformation (South African Government Communication and Information System, 2014).
