ABSTRACT
This chapter presents the application domain, the organisational structure and the detailed process that has been established. It describes the introduction strategy together with the obstacles and facilitators. The User Interface (UI) designers are experts in interaction design and/or usability engineering. They are responsible for defining the usability requirements, creating interaction designs and validating the user interface and interaction designs. They produce the user interface specifications. Over the last four years the Health Services Division of Siemens Medical Solutions have implemented a user-centred design process into their product management and development organisations for their new flagship product. The Health Services Division of Siemens Medical Solutions USA produces software applications for the healthcare industry. The management team for the suite of clinical products work on has made a very strong commitment to incorporate UI design early on within the product development methodology.
