ABSTRACT

The risk of women deployed in three strategies which refered to as 'avoidance', 'safety in medical surveillance' and 'self-management'. This chapter argues that understanding the nature of these strategies enables professionals to develop ways of empowering women who enter subsequent pregnancies with an at risk status due to complications. It talks about the summary of the nature of pre-eclampsia. The sample was self-selecting via advertisements in national pregnancy magazines and via the newsletters of interested charities: Action on Pre-eclampsia (APEC) and Bliss. Women with early pre-eclampsia might not present with visible signs although it is detectable through routine screening tests. Visible signs and symptoms include swelling, usually of the hands and feet, vomiting, visual disturbances and pain below the ribs. The United Kingdom (UK) reveals how pregnancy and childbirth expectations are reconstructed after suffering from this common but potentially very serious pregnancy complication.
