ABSTRACT
In recent years, international discussion on China’s U-shaped line increased, particularly after China sent its note verbale to the United Nations in 2009 with the attachment of the U-shaped line map. 1 This chapter attempts to discuss a couple of legal issues surrounding this line and its implications for the future resolution of the islands disputes as well as maritime boundary delimitation in the South China Sea.
