ABSTRACT
Our objective in this chapter is to consider the characteristics of a relationship between a scientifi c leader in the fi eld of technological innovation and his research and development team. Focusing our discussion on the leader, we identify the nature of the developmental context that they create, their understanding of a learning team and how they use conversation as a means for learning and development.
