ABSTRACT

The moral dimension of the mentoring relationship between individuals is seeking to do the right thing by each other. Mentoring is a simple relationship in a complicated world. Such frameworks from psycho analysis, gender relations, network theory, power relations and organizational culture have all been used to this end, to explain mentoring and its significance as part of a more complicated world. The qualities of pride, arrogance and assertiveness had to be repressed. However, as commitment to these Christian values eroded and their influence declined, an alternative was required. The debate on the place and role of morality in management has generated many studies. Management is likely to go awry when natural human responses and moral identity are compromised or absent. Schrijvers account of the sense and relevance of an anti-moral perspective in the modern world of management and organization needs to be answered.
