ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses that the Ronald K. Palmgren, and he was a young banker at the time having been recently assigned to the Latin America desk at a small regional bank in the midst of the large money center behemoths such as First National City Bank, Chemical Bank, Manny Hanny and of course JP Morgan. The Country Report also included an extensive narrative section which provided analysis of the economic state of country, the assessment of the political climate and a discussion about the strength of the financial sector including comments on the current lending activity of both foreign and domestic banks. The discussion regarding the current political climate usually contained a synopsis of political structure and the basic tenets of the major political parties. He had 30 years experience in the banking industry as a lending officer with significant experience in the international arena. He was formerly the head of Latin America desk at former Connecticut Bank and Trust Co.
