ABSTRACT
This chapter illuminates some of the issues that contributed to the ill treatment of such workers and to offer recommendations for those concerned with comparable situations. It provides the research findings that are explored have broader implications, so that people working within other sectors with similar stress factors to the entertainment and media industries a deadline orientated, often high-pressure environment will find useful commonality in study and solutions proposed. The Creating without Conflict report set out to investigate the prevalence of bullying within the entertainment, media and arts industries. The Broadcasting, Entertainment, Cinematographic and Theatrical Union (BECTU) representing staff, contractors and freelance workers, primarily in UK working in broadcasting, film, independent production, theatre and the arts, leisure and digital media. The National Union of Journalists (NUJ), representing a broad range of media professionals working in journalism. The Writers Guild of Great Britain (WGGB), representing writers in TV, radio, theatre, books, poetry, film, online and video games.
