This chapter seeks to explore how MNEs can contribute to sustainable development in Africa given the structural disconnect between global capitalism and the particularities of the socio-cultural context of Africa. To address the disjuncture, the paper builds on this previous work on Africapitalism by demonstrating how the tenets of Africapitalism could potentially guide MNEs to better contribute to sustainable development goals in Africa. Our objectives are two-fold. First, we seek to place MNEs and their potential role in the context of a variety of capitalism that responds to and is characteristic of the needs of Africa. Second, we seek to invite and challenge scholars to approach the issue of sustainable development in Africa from a nascent, alternative and perhaps more suitable theoretical lens. The chapter concludes by considering the theoretical insights gleaned from an Africapitalism perspective to business and society relation in Africa
