ABSTRACT

Betty Reardon’s Comprehensive Peace Education: Educating for Global Responsibility, authored in 1988, has influenced many educators in their efforts to shape and transform education for peace. She articulated and framed the social and political purposes of comprehensive peace education as broad in scope and operating at all levels of human development and social engagement. Not constrained or limited to the undoing of the problématique of violence, her vision also emphasized the nurturance of the full array of practical competencies and ethical capacities necessary for building a peaceful world order and living with justice and integrity.
