ABSTRACT

The chapter examines how conceptual and embodied artistic experiments with inter-species co-dependence in the work of Essi Kausalainen and Terike Haapoja unsettle anthropocentrism. Moreover, it sets out to think through practice how this challenge may be reflected in the positions of viewing and writing. With the notions of mycorrhiza, mimesis and contagion it argues for critically situated witnessing and knowing that arise from and give further rise to transformative encounters.
