ABSTRACT
Using the conventions of a script, this chapter is a piece of speculative ethology that draws on a 1930s account of the life world of a tick by the biologist Jakob von Uexküll. It is a critical retelling of science which draws on the performative dimension and embodied participation of writing, utterance and gesture that both re-engages our forgotten instinctual relations to invertebrates, and allows an imaginative ‘feeling-for’ these small creatures of instinct.
