ABSTRACT

‘Field notes from a choreographic practice’ explores writing at the intersection between different artistic disciplines with the aim of revealing the creative potential that arises from migrating ideas across borders. The chapter includes material from different areas of Cash’s commissioned practice including, a sound installation (VOICED); a mixed media installation (Some Patterns of Current); a research as practice talk (Foundling Museum research residency); and a choreographic provocation for the Jerwood Foundation. The chapter is an attempt at enlivening writing through playful performative strategies including metonymy, collage, synaesthesia, abstraction and compression.
