ABSTRACT

This chapter outlines the methodology employed across the three phases of the Schooling for a Fair Go project. Western Sydney University places importance on fostering close and positive community relationships, including with its local schools. The task for the mentees was to use aspects of the MeE Framework that they felt were relevant and appropriate for their context as location points for pedagogical change, and then to implement and evaluate those changes in a co-researching/action research cycle. The project would support implementation of the MeE Framework and teacher-research for other teachers in the schools, who were enabled to take on this work. The developing research focus to challenge the expectations and behaviours was first to change the conversation in the classroom from focusing on behaviour to focusing on learning. They planned the next steps as finding a way to visually represent whole-class and individual learning and linking this representation to student self-assessment and whole-class reflection on learning.
