ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the author focuses on Growing Together in 2016 to highlight its evolution in the past decade, whereas the initial works describing Growing Together have been in print for some time. They give a flavour of a Growing Together session, from their pre-brief meetings to their debriefs; explain the process of filming; and give examples of how families have used the group, as well as how they, as teams, always aim to progress their learning, influenced by Psychodynamic theory. The authors illustrate, with examples from practice and a case study, how they have tried to remain a consistent place for families to attend with their children, as well as show how they feel they have developed since their inception. The original Growing Together groups were set up in 1999 as a result of a three-year research project that was carried out in the nursery. The research focused on Parents' Involvement in their Children's Learning.
