ABSTRACT

China’s legal construction has made great progress since the reform and open policy of 1978. In 1997, the Chinese authorities decided to adopt a new guiding principle which is “to govern the country according to law, building a socialist country under rule of law”. China has been less impacted directly by the global crisis. One of the major problems is that legal education is over-commercialized. If legal education is getting more and more commercialized, it means that law schools are giving up their pursuit for justice, fairness, order, development, harmony and peace. As legal education is the most upstream of a nation’s legal system, and if the water’s upstream turns bad, the whole river will be polluted. Financial and commercial law is not an independent existence, but a part of the country’s entire legal system. When strengthening the rule of law, we must also strengthen the legal supervision of the legal profession itself.
