ABSTRACT
The general science of the human, which seemingly all but disappeared with the ascendancy of the disciplines, seems poised for a rebirth. The chapter describes this change to be nothing less than revolutionary: the interdisciplining of global thinking. It argues the key to understanding both time and interdisciplinarity is their centrality to method, but interdisciplinarity becomes more than a method. The interdisciplining of global thinking is an instance of Agamben's opening of time. Any integration, whether instrumental or critical, involves an opening of time. The unfortunate event occurs for instrumentalists when time is once again disciplined. The revolutionary task in a world filled with disciplines is unending, yet filled with endless potential. Agamben expresses the idea of time in a variety of ways: as now-time, messianic time, and kairological time. The chapter examines these terms of time briefly in order to link together time and interdisciplinarity.
