ABSTRACT

In this chapter, we will present a broad model of citizenship behaviour used in the research presented. In our model, citizenship behaviour means the general tendency to take up civic activity, which expresses engagement in public and personal matters. Our model is broad since we aimed to include in it all categories of citizenship behaviour distinguished by other theoreticians and examined in previous research that can be expressed in three forms of citizenship: passive, semi-active and active. It is based on notions of engagement stressed in modern concepts of citizenship. This model was a basis for construction of the instrument that allows us to measure and describe the various kinds (types) of citizenship behaviour. Due to that, it also gives us an opportunity to examine some correlates of it (conditions or effects) and then to indicate some suggestions to shape different kinds of citizenship (considering in which conditions) or what for (considering its effects).
