ABSTRACT

The chapter focuses on clinical management of sexual media in the context of a rehabilitative environment for the treatment of detained sexual offenders diagnosed as personality disordered. It is based on the findings of research undertaken in the Personality Disorder Unit [PDU] of a high-secure mental health service in the United Kingdom. The aim was to explore how forensic nurses, and mentally disordered sex offenders, constructed accounts of pornography and offending (Mercer 2010). In the UK this is a vexed issue for treatment providers, attracting professional and political criticism (Fallon et al. 1999).
