ABSTRACT

Boundary data enable the visualisation of census aggregate statistics and flow data in map form. Each of the census agencies produces data for its own hierarchy of spatial units and these are acquired, processed and made available to users through the UK Data Service-Census Support website. This chapter outlines the different data sets available for 2011, explains some of the characteristics and problems with the data and explains how users can select and download boundaries they want to use in their analyses. It also briefly reviews other sources of geographical boundary data available in the UK.
