Perpetrators' and Victims' Views of Restorative Justice and Intimate Partner Violence

This chapter reports on research (Hayden 2010) which was conducted in New Zealand to examine the non-reporting of intimate partner violence to the police and to explore whether or not the use of restorative justice would increase reporting. The research was motivated by the awareness that couples experiencing intimate partner violence had few options open to them besides remaining in the situation or reporting the violence to the police and facing uncertain consequences.
