ABSTRACT

The Asia Pacific region has quickly become one of the world’s most important air transport regions, on a par with North America and Europe in terms of importance not only for passengers but also for cargo (O’Connor 1995, 2003). Air access to, from and within this region is a key component of the competitive strategies of airlines around the world and of the economic success of the cities they serve (Zook and Brunn 2005, Grubesic, Matisziw, and Zook 2008).
