ABSTRACT

The chapters in this volume paint an intricate portrait of contemporary Greek civil society. The contributions present insights into the historical, social and political factors that have contributed to the present day context for civil society in Greece, whilst also offering a panorama of civil society activity in the country today. The contributing authors write from their own perspectives, and it was never our intention that these should form a unified argument. In a sense, the multiplicity of viewpoints is an appropriately diverse reflection of the variety of civil society actors and initiatives on the ground.
