ABSTRACT

The aim of this edited text is to explore the legacy of slavery in Black theological terms. It emerges from the papers of a seminal conference,1 the largest gathering of Black theological talent ever assembled in Britain, which sought to address the legacy of slavery in the British Empire. This landmark book examines the underlying theological implications of slavery in Britain and across the world. Perhaps the greatest import of this text is the way in which it challenges the two dominant approaches to the history and legacy of slavery in the British Empire.
