ABSTRACT

The Berliner Philharmoniker is a symphony orchestra based in Berlin, the German capital. The orchestra was formed in 1882 under the name Berliner Philharmonisches Orchester. The Austrian conductor was renowned all over the world for his perfectionism and virtuosity. After nine principal conductors, two world wars, 131 years after its foundation, the Berliner Philharmoniker are made up of 128 musicians. In June 1999, the orchestra chose Sir Simon Rattle as the successor to Claudio Abbado, who did not wish to extend his principal conductor contract which was due to expire in 2002. Music should be a vital and essential element in the lives of all people, said Rattle about the program. The musician's awareness of the younger generation as their future audience grew in the process. The social media campaign was very successful and very well received too. The Berliner Philharmoniker makes a significant contribution to the cultural enrichment of many people throughout the world.
