ABSTRACT

The period of schooling for 1114-year-olds in maintained schools in England and Wales. The main objectives of the study day were for students to understand the range of opinions about the monarchy that existed at that time, understand why the chain of events that occurred during the imprisonment, trial and execution of Charles I happened in that way, understand the impact and significance of the trial of Charles I and reflect critically on its outcome and critically assess a range of historic evidence. These aims were linked to several of the Museums Libraries and Archives Council (MLA) Generic Learning Outcomes from the Inspiring Learning for All Framework. The Inspiring Learning for All Framework defines learning as a process of active engagement with experience leading to change, development and the desire to know more. Through the use of unique historical environments and costumed interpretation, To Kill a King? successfully engaged and challenged students.
