ABSTRACT
Visitors entering the Scandinavian pavilion at the World Expo in Montreal in 1967 were met by this declaration signed by the heads of state of five countries. If they then went on to look at the brochure handed out at the pavilion, they could read that ‘this joint representation is unique in the history of world fairs’, made possible thanks to the fact that ‘for several generations, the Nordic countries have been developing a solidarity which is becoming a power in present-day Europe’.2
