ABSTRACT

In this concluding chapter of the book, the authors would like to discuss the current and future challenges regarding the implementation of a successful and viable global CRM system, as well as the common problems experienced in CRM implementation at the domestic level. As the primary audiences for this book are current and future business executives, as well as educators, discussing issues that have been problematic for others is good medicine to help ensure that similar problems can be avoided regarding CRM implementation in the future. On a positive note, over US$80 billion is spent globally on an annual basis on CRM, which is more than three times the average of just five years ago. Thus, CRM is here to stay, and corporate decision makers should take careful note of the topics covered in this book, to ensure that the knowledge gained from reading this book is not lost when it is applied in practice. Unfortunately, upwards of two-thirds of CRM projects have been viewed as failing to achieve their objectives based on industry reports (Kale, 2004).
