ABSTRACT

Racism is officially stigmatized across Europe and banned from any sort of formal public discourse. From ethnicity to race, from the State of Law to the art of body detection and displacement, the new governmental form of liberal-advanced societies begins to take shape as a sort of logistics of the bodies. The most typical case, in contemporary Europe, is that of illegal migrants, currently transformed in clandestines. Illegal in terms of formal law, they become in the eyes of public opinion a special kind of figure. The true Muslims are increasingly marked by the same categories utilized in the past in the dehumanization of Hebrews. The increasing weakness, the silence, the docility, the submissiveness, the fear that go along with migrant workers abused by racial policies, increasingly short-circuits the western value system and its neo-liberal mythology of personal success and individual responsibility and generates a self-reproducing wave of ethnicization.
