ABSTRACT

This chapter provides key resources to help users find the start point of their searching journey. It makes specific recommendations to business managers, design professionals and design students. For the main target audience, that is design educators and design students, it provides case studies from the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA), illustrating what students can achieve by participating in a major design competition, Design Directions, in the UK. The RSA has been engaged in promoting inclusive design in the UK since 1986. The chapter demonstrates the breadth of information and support available to anyone: from those looking to gain a general understanding of how inclusive design affects their business to those working on specific design projects. The Design for Ageing Network (DAN) Teaching Pack for instance, was a resource produced in 1995 to assist in incorporating age-related issues into design courses.
