ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the basic nature of educational provision and describes some of the ways in which electronic performance support systems (EPSS) and/or tools can be used to enhance the educational opportunities that can be made available to their users. Educational systems provide a vital resource that enables people to acquire the skills, knowledge and understanding they need in order to conduct their lives. Bearing in mind the rationale that is embedded chapter suggest that 'an education' can be thought of as an appropriately designed sequence of educational experiences. Within the context of educational tasks, there are many tools available to support the process of collaboration and collaborative learning. Social networking is the term that is commonly used to describe the use of suitable computer-based tools. Within education, game playing is an important technique for knowledge creation and skill acquisition.
