ABSTRACT

The appearance of New Information and Communications Technologies (NICT) has played a major role in the spectacular development of our knowledge-based society. They have utterly revolutionized the way we work and live, further strengthening their social and economic impacts. While knowledge will be one of the drivers of the twenty-first century, it will be just as important to have access to information that is accurate, objective and transparent. This approach is meant to be both forward-looking and pragmatic not only in the service of the organization's strategy and risk management but also of all players involved in economic development. In recent years, the notion of country risk has undergone change. Increasingly, it integrates financial and macroeconomic issues, in particular the counterparty credit risk, the monetary risk and the systemic risk, as well as the socio-cultural issues that exist alongside the traditional political risk.
