ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on a general presentation of the country risk addresses the impact of globalization on the country risk. Treatment of country risk first implies a structured analysis of the current situation, and this in turn requires to outline the concept of country risk and highlight its evolution to redefine the position of each developed or developing country, on the international scene. There are three approaches to the 'country risk', depending on whether we are looking from the perspective of the risk creditor and type of risk, the foreign debtor entity and the nature of the risks, or the risk generating events, that is, the type of possible crisis. Organizing the country risk management process is a long and complex task, and the efficiency of the outcome is contingent on the adoption of a robust structure and a disciplined methodology.
