ABSTRACT

This introduction examines the Logics of Action (LoA) approach and explores the theoretical background of our analytical framework. It discusses the literature that inspired LoA. Based on this preliminary work, the chapter argues that to identify logics of action context matters. Logics of action are shaped in particular in the context of four notions such as time, space, identity and power. The chapter explores the Euro-Mediterranean interactions from different angles to paint a comprehensive picture of change and persistence after the 'Arab Spring'. Based on the LoA approach, all of them seek to detect logics of persistence in times of change, triggered by the 'Arab Spring'. The notion of a Euro-Mediterranean political space, implies that Europe is part of this space, due to dense interactions with its southern neighbourhood. Logics of action can change over time and they might be regional peculiarities.
