ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on a case study on love of adopted country and longevity in entrepreneurship. There is a lack of studies reporting on the state of entrepreneurship in South Africa, while those that do exist focus primarily on the psychological traits of entrepreneurs and demographic differences. Just one study investigates the relationship between ethnicity and entrepreneurship in South Africa, but it focuses primarily on the characteristics of each group. A landmark study analyzing five primary features of ethnic entrepreneurship behavior, based on a survey of 325 African, European and Indian entrepreneurs from Durban, was conducted at the University of Natal. This brief literature review endeavors to broaden our understanding of female immigrant entrepreneurship in South Africa. It is widely accepted that entrepreneurship is a social activity, inseparable from the social context. Consequently, future studies in this area need to examine the influence of the wider socio-economic environments.
