ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on female immigrant entrepreneurs in Lebanon. Lebanese female entrepreneurs were primarily active in low-profit income generation through services, trading, and production of foods and handicrafts. The characteristics of and barriers to female entrepreneurship in the MENA regions, other ground-breaking studies are focusing on the ways in which women entrepreneurs can make positive contributions the quality and direction of economic and social development in Lebanon and neighboring states. The chapter also focuses on Business and Social Profiles of Female Immigrant Entrepreneurs in Lebanon. Lebanon, a multicultural and multi-religious country, with one of the highest living standards in the Middle East, has attracted many immigrants over the past century, particularly political refugees. This case study, with a sample of 11 female immigrant entrepreneurs, analyzes the social and business issues that accompany their business operations. Another study investigated the life cycle of business development of these 11 entrepreneurs from the early to maturity stages.
