ABSTRACT

This chapter suggests that psychology provides a general critical perspective on how doctrines are formulated or commemorated in the Christian year. For example, psychologists are familiar with the process of ‘splitting’, an over-strong separation between good and bad. One of the most important points of practical convergence between theology and psychology is over mental well-being. The chapter believes that holistic spirituality is very important for the future of religion and spirituality. It is a familiar claim in work on the interface between theology and science that theology is enriched by taking science into account. The chapter also presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book.
