ABSTRACT

This chapter begins with a brief review of the notions of business ethics, globalisation and gender, and comment on common usages and also means to neglect myriad important aspects, insights and considerations. It presents two selected perspectives on globalisation, one referring to feminist philosophy and the other to transnational feminist networks and the concept of solidarity. A feminist or gender perspective on globalisation or on any other topic has to reflect the differences use for analysis. The chapter presents several approaches how the inclusion of gender aspects into the research on globalisation can lead to interesting new insights and perspectives that are usually excluded from mainstream globalisation theory, more accessible. Feminist sociologist Valentine Moghadam, who is also Chief of the UNESCO Gender Equality and Development Section, explains how transnational feminist networks (TFNs) work and organise themselves to oppose both growing inequalities that are caused by globalisation processes and the increasing impact of patriarchal fundamentalisms on the lives of women.
