ABSTRACT
The thalidomide disaster in the early 1960s triggered the advent of o€cial registration of medicines. Before a medicine can be prescribed or sold, it needs to obtain a licence from regulatory authorities. These authorities check if a medicine is safe enough to give to patients, and further check if the accompanying information is correct and follows legislation and associated guidelines.
