ABSTRACT

The project-oriented organization is a contemporary organization form with increasing importance. In addition to traditional project-oriented industries such as construction and engineering, which traditionally perform large contracting projects, new types of internal projects such as strategic planning, marketing, personnel development and organizational development are increasingly performed in organizations. Thus the demand for projects is spreading into all kinds of industries including service industries and the public sector. In the public sector, for example, projects and programs are applied for organizing reform and change. This is why I explicitly use the term project-oriented organization to include also public and non-profit organizations.
