ABSTRACT

This chapter identifies anxieties that the team members may either identify early on or may encounter later in the team's life cycle. Technophobia may be found amongst people anywhere and so may be present in some virtual team members. An organization can work proactively to make sure that its employees are comfortable with the communication technology that surrounds them. Changing job has been identified as one of the top five most stressful things that people have to do in their lifetime. Not only is there the stress of the new job, but there are also a number of unanswered questions that can prey on the mind of a new virtual team member. The training should not be an isolated or token effort and targeted only at the launch of the virtual team. The team training sessions are also a means of delivering shared experiences and interactions that are the basis for building trust among the team members.
