ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on individual dynamics as indicated in the integral inclusivity framework. Globalization leads to increased diversity in organizations. Organizations stand to benefit from this diversity since a larger pool of talent is available for selection. On the one hand, diversity of perspectives and ideas may lead to innovation and creativity, but, on the other hand, diversity may also create negative effects. The ability of leadership to enhance the benefits of diversity of thought, while at the same time reducing its negative impact, will depend largely on leadership's understanding of their own and others diversity dynamics. Diversity dynamics have intrigued academic scholars and organizational development practitioners for a few decades. Diversity of thought dynamics are unconsciously synthesized to create diverse voices and the ability of becoming present. Diversity of thought includes aspects such as personality type, emotional intelligence, complexity-handling ability and the questions of existence as described by the human niches theory.
