ABSTRACT

This chapter traces action learning about campaign strategy and examines how the SfC project helped define individual and shared pedagogy. The Change Agency (CA) is an informal collective of educators and facilitators whose work with social movement organisations and activists includes education and training, facilitation, action research and mentoring. Strategising for Change (SfC) action research project began in 2003 when the collaboration with Philadelphia-based Training for Change (TfC) to lead a series of campaign strategy workshops around Australia. The SfC project helped open a space where reflection and sharing, analysing and theorising, incorporating new information and planning for action the stages in the experiential learning cycle are valued and valid exercises. The chapter works to embody a learning culture within our collective through intentional peer learning and reflective processes. It discusses strategy workshops, mentored campaigners and developed resources that are now being used by many social change groups.
