ABSTRACT

With modern migration patterns, there are large numbers of people going overseas from the UK, some temporarily for study, holiday and business trips and many permanently to work and to retire abroad. A person going missing is often seen as a symptom of something that has gone wrong in someone’s life. It is, therefore, inevitable that British citizens will also go missing whilst overseas. As a corollary, it is expected that a large number of foreign citizens will go missing every year whilst in the UK.
