ABSTRACT
By far the majority of missing person incidents are resolved in some way. Research studies around the world have shown that in the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Australia and New Zealand, location rates are well over 90 per cent of police missing person cases and in many areas more than 99 per cent of cases were resolved within a year (Henderson and Henderson, 1998; Newiss, 1999; Biehal, Mitchell and Wade, 2003; Tarling and Burrows, 2004; James, Anderson and Putt, 2008; National Crime Information Center, 2011; New Zealand Police, 2013).
